Dealerships have a unique lighting problem in that they must light their lots, but must be sensitive to over-lighting. Since HID lamps "season" and suffer from LLD (Lamp Lumen Depreciation) the lighting scheme usually has to account for the lower end performance of the lamps. This means that when new lamps are installed they over-light the area for the first few thousand hours of operation, and then provide the proper amount of light for a few thousand hours. After that, for more than half their rated life, they provide inadequate light.
