The Electra™ is a patented lighting power controller for use in single or 3-phase lighting systems. The controller reduces the power consumption of existing commercial and industrial lighting systems by as much as 36% (see test results). The system is designed for use with HID lamps such as high-pressure sodium, metal-halide, mercury vapor as well as fluorescent or a combination. The Electra is installed between the power line and the dedicated lighting panel. It is designed to supply full power to the lighting panels for a period of time to allow the lamps to fully warm up and achieve full brightness.

The Electra then automatically reduces power supplied to the panels, saving energy and extending lamp and ballast life. The dramatic reduction of energy consumption also means less electric utility power generation and less greenhouse gases. The Electra is engineered and manufactured to provide a short payback period typically, less than 24 months, which translates into an outstanding ROI. There is simply no more economical way to achieve the dramatic energy savings and environmental benefits that accrue with installing the Electra.

Load Sensing and Down-Line Switching
The Electra can be equipped with a sensor that is capable of detecting the current in the load lines. In the event that another bank of lamps is switched on, the sensor will detect the change. The Electra will then instantly switch back to full power for a period sufficient to allow the new bank of lamps to fully warm up. After the preset period, the Electra will switch and the energy savings will continue. The Electra does not require control wires to operate with Energy Management Systems, photocells or time clocks.
