Luminosity Performance

Luminosity and Lamp life extension
using the Active ES Electra™ Lighting Controller

This chart illustrates an example of both the improved lumen output and the extended lamp life experienced when using the Electra lighting controller on typical HID lamps.

  1. The Baseline (green) is the manufacturers rated life of a typical HID lamp. In this example it is 20,000 hours. NOTE: Manufacturers' definition of Rated lamp life is that only half the lamps in use will achieve this length of time, while the other half drop out at various points prior to this time. And the lamps that are still lit by the end of their rated life are operating as low as 50% of their original luminosity. The Thick Black line indicates the resulting minimum lumen output as expressed by the manufacturer. The red line indicates the end of their rated life, and the lamps extinguish soon thereafter.

  2. The Blue line shows that although the Electra-controlled lamp begins at a lower lumen output, it is still well above the “designed Lumens” specified by the manufacturer (purple line) , and because the lamp burns at a lower temperature, it retains a better luminosity and lasts up to 40% longer than the uncontrolled lamp. Therefore for about 80% of the lamps life, the Electra-controlled lamp is actually BRIGHTER than the uncontrolled lamp.
